Getting some fresh air

Children benefit from learning about and from nature by immersing themselves in it. In the modern world, kids are spending more time inside buildings when they attend day-care, preschool or school. By encouraging outdoor play, we are helping your child to develop a love for nature which includes exposure to dirt, water, sand, plants and nature sounds. This is important for the integration of your child’s different sensory systems. Next time your child spins on a merry-go-round, goes down a slide or comes home covered in dirt, you can rest assured that it is all part of their developmental road map!

Trip to the movies 2019

The preschoolers went on an excursion to the movies!

They watched Toy Story 4 and had a marvelous time!

Take a look at the pictures below

The toddlers visit the Library 2019

All set to go, all strapped in our prams, our hats and sunscreen on and waterbottles at hand. We began our day with a shiny bright sky, looking as we walked at the birds flying up high.

We were interested in everything we seen and heard along the way! This was going to be such a fantastic, amazing, adventurous day!

There were songs, and music, and so many books. We hung our bags and hats on the little wall hooks.

We danced, we sung, then we all packed away, this was such a fun, fantastic, educational day!

Hands on learning … Making food fun

When teaching children the benifits of healthy eating, our educators aimed for capturing their attention and their hearts – Where is that you ask? Their belly ofcourse!
Our baby and toddler room blended some delicious fresh fruit into fruit juice, then we made some delicious fruit ice cubes to have together for afternoon tea! Even those who dont eat fruit were loving the fresh, icy taste of our fruit cubes!

Blending the watermelon together the childern are amazed by the sound of the blender
Lets give it a try …

Christmas Lunch 2018

The most important thing about Christmas is to spend time with family and friends, no matter how the festivities are carried out. Christmas Day, for many busy families, is the one day of the year when everyone is able to gather in one room at the same time. We like to adapt this tradition here at St George by creating a Christmas lunch together!

Thank you to all the parents who contributed towards our meal and all the educators for their special dishes.

Merry Christmas – Farewell letter 2018

Dear Parents and families,

We cannot believe that the end of the school year is approaching so quickly. It has been a great year that has been filled with much joy and happiness. We have covered a lot of material and have had the opportunity to participate in many fun events and projects. We were lucky enough to go to Fairfield farm and visit all the animals. Visit our local indigenous flora park, sing carols at the retirement village for the beautiful residence, and so, so much more!

As your child gets ready for the next year of their life, you can rest assure that it will be a wonderful upcoming year. They can look forward to meeting new friends, learn how to socialise and express their emotions, keep hitting milestones and achieving their goals, going on several exciting school excursions, watching and participating in plenty more incursions.

As your child moves to the next chapter in their life, there are some very important things that you can do to help them succeed. Take the time to listen to your child, try and read each night for at least 15 minutes to them. Practice their counting and ABC’s in fun and exciting ways. Encourage your child to draw and express themselves though art often. If you go on holidays this summer, talk to them at the end of the day getting them to summarize what you have explored. This is a great way for a child to get their thoughts expressed and show you their understanding of the world around them! All of these things will help your child lead to big successes in the many years to come.

It has been our pleasure getting to know every single child and their families this year. Having your parental support was an essential part of the year. We would like to personally thank each and every one of the parents, grandparents, and other family members who have taken the time to attend our events, contribute to our fundraisers, and for all the things you bring to the centre in general, a smiling face, a shared family experience. Your dedication and support has not gone unnoticed.

Thanks again for a wonderful year. Bring on 2019!

Sincerely,

St George Early Learning Centre

St George spread some christmas cheer at our local retirement village

Residents at the manor Fairfield East nursing home were excited to hear our children sing them some live carols this Christmas,

Our aim was to provide an opportunity for those in care to socialise, smile and spread some Christmas joy and cheer.

It was a lovely sing-along and it was well attended there were about 40 residents that were there to enjoy it. The residents were singing along and some even got up to dance and cheer the children on. Events like this take the residents out of their everyday routine and leave a lasting, positive impression in their heart. As well as our educators, with Miss Bianca shedding a few tears at the joy in the residence faces. Thank you to all our beautiful children and parents who helped us spread some joy this Christmas.

We wish all the residence and staff at #TheManorFairfieldEast a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
